Batch Production Planner Calculator
Plan whole batches from an order quantity, expected saleable yield and sequential batch time.
Whole batches to planExample5 batchesbatches
- Expected saleable output
- 114 units
- Sequential batch time
- 150 minutes
How to calculate batch production planner
Batches = ceil(required units ÷ (units per batch × saleable yield)); expected output = batches × units per batch × yield
Expected yield is an average, not a delivery guarantee. Timing assumes one sequential production stream; shared preparation, cooling and parallel equipment need separate scheduling.
Worked example
An illustrative scenario. “Reset to example” restores it in the calculator.
- Saleable units needed
- 100 units
- Units made per full batch
- 24 units
- Expected saleable yield
- 95%
- Sequential time per batch
- 30 minutes

Batch Production Planner FAQ
Why does expected output include fractions?
A yield rate is a long-run expectation. Round batch counts up for planning and keep a separate buffer when real defect or spoilage rates vary.
