How to calculate takt time

Takt time = available minutes × 60 ÷ required units; theoretical capacity = available seconds ÷ cycle time

Cycle time assumes one output stream. Downtime, scrap, batching and parallel machines are not included. Takt follows demand rather than equipment speed.

Common questions

Takt Time FAQ

What if cycle time is longer than takt?

A single output stream cannot meet demand within the entered available time. Review bottlenecks, losses, staffing or capacity before promising delivery.
