Common questions

Selling Price FAQ

Is a 40% margin the same as a 40% markup?

No. Margin uses selling price as its denominator; markup uses cost. A 30 cost and a 40% margin require a 50 price.

What does this calculation leave out?

Include all direct costs. Fixed overhead, tax and payment fees are excluded unless included in cost.
